Week six: Thursdays with Cake Crumb Girl

Hello everyone! Hope you all are having a great week so far. This Thursday is my home town's parade, so I'm taking this cake there for all of my family to eat and enjoy. I didn't take my camera, but there wasn't a single peice left!
Cutting or "trimming" the cake.
Can you guess what it is??

Week five: Thursdays with Cake Crumb Girl

Hello everyone! It's Thursday again. Week five, and I just got a new pan to play with.
They used to be a really big thing back in the day. You may have already guessed, It's the wonder doll cake mold!

I decided to do it Wednesday, So it would be nice and stiff for me on Thursday morning.

I mounted lots of icing on the bottom, believe me when I say that it was easier this way. :)
Smoothing down the mound of icing.
I put this in the freezer to set, while I went ahead a did some practice sheets.
Sheet one: I went ahead and did last Thursday's again, since I wasn't able to focus last week.
Sheet two: Finally! It wasn't erased this time :)
The finishing product!! :D
She tasted great!

Thanks for stopping by, Have a fantastic week!

Week four: Thursdays with Cake Crumb Girl

Hello everyone! Hope you all are having a great week so far.
Sadly, week four it got busy at my house. Aunt Wanda and Cousin Haley came over to pick up some zucchini's from our garden and then Cousin Kurtis came at his regular time(which is 2pm). So....I didn't have very much "focus" time.
But I managed to get some practice in.
I believe they're called rosettes. They were pretty easy.
Working on the practice sheet.
Practice sheet 1. I did two sheets, but Britney wiped it off before I was able to get a picture.
My mini cake.
Nana's mini cake.
In the bottom left corner: Haley in the brown dress, Britney in the blue shirt, Aunt Wanda in the purple shirt, Kurtis in the blue and gray shirt, Nana in the pink shirt.
The cake went over very well!!

Have a great week! Thanks for stopping by.

Week three: Thursdays with Cake Crumb Girl

Hello everybody!
Turns out the mother board is going bad on my laptop, so I'll be getting a new one before school starts back up. So since we aren't going with the $400 repair,  we were able to go ahead and pick it back up.
I got on it today to get my pictures for you all. Then I'll transfer the rest of my data to my new laptop when I get it...etc...

I found a mold/ cake pan at a thrift shop that's shaped as a fish, I decided I would try doing it on Thursday. I practiced doing some piping on the pan before doing it on the cake.
I did somewhat of a shell boarder around the cake and traced all the nooks and crannies with a toothpick.
The finishing product. My roses are on the top and Nana's is on the bottom.

I wanted to make mini cakes. So I got a cookie cutter and cut out mini cakes. And put them on little cake boards.
Needless to say...they didn't turn out according to my plan.

To finish the lesson for the day, I practiced some piping  on some freezer paper.
Oh well! Sometimes things don't turn out the way you want them to, but don't be afraid to play with new ideas!

My blog is on hold.

My laptop's fan is beginning to break up. We took it to best buy to get it fixed. They're running a diagnostic that won't be complete until July 30th. Then they have to work on it. Which might take another whole month. And of course, week three's pictures are on my laptop, but not uploaded onto my blog. I'm sorry!
I am continuing to take pictures and I will put them all on once I have my laptop again and it's up and running.
I just passed my fourth week last Thursday and coming up is my 5th Thursday working with my Nana on cake decorating.  My Aunt Wanda and Cousin Haley came over to pick up some zucinni from our garden. Haley saw what we were doing and grew an interest in cake decorating. It sounds like she'll be joining us on week 5 and so on to learn some basics. I'm still learning myself, and this is now basically school that I'm working on, so I can't spare much time to help her. Thankfully, Nana will be there as a guide for her.
Why did I say this is basically school?
As some of you know, I'm homeschooled. I've been homeschooled my whole life. I'm now entering my Freshmen year so I'm going to be doing more heavy work than I'm used to such as...Algebra, Language Arts (Including the Hobbit and the High King), Civics and geography. I'll also be doing Bible at Community Bible Study in my home town on Tuesdays and doing the daily homework for the bible study, I'll be taking Volleyball and Physical science at Cedar Brook Academy. Also I'll be logging 60hours as a half credit for P.E. Sadly enough, this only adds up to 6 credits. It's required 7 credits a year at my academy. My mother tried putting a few things together to make Cake Decorating a credit for me. I'm taking four courses at our local Michael's store along with some one time classes including cupcakes, and tiered cakes.  We told one of the directors at Cedar Brook Academy our idea, thankfully, they understood and it passed.

Thank you for your patience since I won't be uploading in a while.
